I haven’t had much opportunity this summer to attend local rodeos, as I like to do. This has something to do with my new vocation of shuttling the trucks and trailers of Bow River anglers downstream from where they launch their flat-bottom drift boats. So some time on a recent Saturday at Millarville was appreciated. This was the short version of the event (most of the rodeo took place on Sunday) but there was some good rodeo action. In particular, the women barrel racers demonstrated such outstanding horsemanship and real showmanship in their events. One saddle bronc ride is included as well. I have never seen a bronc jump this high! The cowboy held on well past the eight seconds and deserves a lot of praise for his ride. Hopefully some time will free up for another rodeo in August, which will be dutifully reported here.
Happy Trails.
